In response to: My New Asus Transformer

Hello Craig. I am an American living in Ha Noi, Viet Nam, 7 years now, (whew). I also have the same tablet. I love the thing for all the same reasons that you mentioned in your blog. I write for a travel magazine here in Ha Noi. Basically for tourists, trying to get them off the tourist trail and into a more realistic travel mode off the beaten path. The Asus I have found to be tough and dependable with the ICS system nearly flawless. I bring it along religiously, leaving my HP and windows 7 at home on my kitchen table where it belongs. Safely away from the bumpy dusty trails that this country is so famous for. The one thing I've done that maybe you haven't thought of is take my Nook reader, erased the operating system in it and slapped the Android OS on it too. Now I have an even smaller almost pocket sized Android tablet. A better size for the pack and bicycle rides. Cheers.

As a gay couple of five years one of us is a US citizen and the other Costarican. How can we turn words into action. We want to get married and move back to the states. This will not be possible since the federal government will no allow my partner to become a US citizen. So just when you think the US has become progressive in it's thinking we find out that equality under the marriages laws of New York is not real equality. How can we help change the federal laws so that we can get married and my partner who is an engenieer apply for ciitizenship?

My 82 year-old father and I had lunch at Perch Cafe yesterday and loved the atmosphere, sandwiches and dessert. A lot of the other cafes in the area have the typical animal organs in a bowl with noodles so the ham and cheese sandwich and cozy atmosphere were welcome.

I honestly don't know, because I got mine with the plan. On PCHome, one of the most popular online shopping sites here, I found it for NT$20,900. It seems like a friend of mine bought one without a plan for about that much, but not sure.

Love the phone, though. Love it.

As far as I know, there isn't any place in Taiwan that sells MagicJack, but I can assure you it works just fine. I've used mine here for over 2 years, as have other friends to whom I've recommended it. I bought mine on one of my trips home and brought it back to Taiwan.

3) My chulin coworker sitting in front of me owns an iphone, and he shows off to me now and then...somehow I really want him to watch the clip and your article, but i don't think a snob like him would admit his mistake buying this expensive useless device.

In response to: What is the purpose of language?

cage [Visitor]
I totally agree that language is a tool that people can use to communicate with. But, do we emphasize communicating or grammar? I prefer learning English by communicating, but, our teacher told me that we should wrong grammar even they understand what we want to say. We may not speak English fluently if we emphasize grammar too much. I think the best way to learn English is keep through speaking and listening. I hope i can find my way to do it.

hey Craig

It's been a long time since my last english writing in your enlish conversation class, hey, we missed you a lot, the things you taught, conversation, are different than the things our english teachers taught us, which I think are more useful, and much important, the happiness you gave us, the time we spent together, the only one class every week is very important to us, the things you taught was just normal conversation with us but the things seems normal are what we really need in english speeking, grammer? writing? personally, I think we need only english conversation, in conversation we can learn english, but we can't learn in those two.

Thank you for what you taught and the happiness, will you go back to Chu-Lin after we are leaving the school?
cause we will miss you

hey, don't forget us !

c ya and we'll meet again someday in Chu-Lin.
